Read full profileA consistent record of income and assets
A return should be supported by a coherent explanation of income, assets, liabilities, gifts and major transactions. We identify gaps between the return, bank records and underlying documents. Accounting and audit work requiring professional certification is coordinated with appropriately qualified accountants or auditors.
Business obligations and cross-border income
For a business, income tax, withholding and other indirect-tax obligations need separate review. We identify the entity, activity and relevant tax period before advising on treatment. Residence, the source of income, exemptions and any applicable treaty can change the position on overseas receipts; remittance alone does not settle the tax analysis.
Documents to prepare
Begin with a short non-confidential outline, parties’ names and urgent dates. After the initial checks, we agree which of the following records are needed and how to share them.
- Returns, computations and assessments for relevant tax years
- Income, withholding and payment certificates
- Bank records, asset schedules and supporting source-of-funds evidence
- Notices, orders, proof of receipt and previous correspondence
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the current income tax framework?
The Income Tax Act 2023, as amended, and applicable rules, notifications and directions form the principal framework. We identify the relevant assessment year and taxpayer category because rates, exemptions and procedural requirements may change.
When must I submit my return?
The applicable Tax Day depends on the taxpayer category, relevant period and any valid extension or special rule. We check current NBR requirements for the particular taxpayer. A deadline used in a previous year should not be assumed to remain applicable.
How can I challenge an assessment or demand?
The order, date of service, grounds and current statutory route determine the response, appeal or other remedy. Keep proof of receipt and payment records. We assess admissibility, required documents and deadlines before preparing the appropriate challenge.
What tax obligations should a business review?
A review may cover corporate income tax, withholding, payroll-related records, VAT, customs and sector-specific requirements. These are distinct obligations with their own rules and periods. Our scope identifies which advice, filings and specialist accounting support are required.
Is overseas income taxable in Bangladesh?
Residence, source, the type of income, statutory exemptions and any applicable double-taxation treaty must be considered. Treaty relief is subject to conditions and evidence. We review the relevant records before advising on disclosure, relief or credit.
